Tin Pan Notes:

Early tin pans had steel bungs or nuts welded inside the tin pan.

Sometimes the pan internal (bung or nut) is too thin to drill out so
we restore the threads by reducing it to 7/16-20. No material is
removed with the
p/n 6600765 kit.

The hole must not have had any oversized drain plugs used.
You should also not have tried to re-tap the hole to straighten the threads
because you would have also removed material which we want to use to
roll the thread back out to hold our insert.

It may be possible to restore the 1/2-20 tin pan back to the original size
with our
p/n 6600122A aluminum kit, providing there is enough material to do so.
If the pan is removed you can visually see there is a min of 1/8 of material
around the threads. If the oil pan is still on the vehicle it may be possible to
check the thickness by using a short allen key to feel if there is a substantial
ledge where you can estimate material thickness which would accept drilling
and tapping. Tin pan thickness is unknown, some tin pans have plenty of
thickness to accept an insert some are too thin and may break out if trying to
drill and tap.
